Veterans Day in NYC 2026: Parade Closures, Airport Timing and Hourly Car Service

Line of black SUVs waiting curbside on a Midtown Manhattan street at night

New York City's Veterans Day Parade, the nation's largest Veterans Day commemoration, steps off on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. It is a proud day on Fifth Avenue and a busy one for anyone trying to cross Midtown. That same night, the Cleveland Cavaliers visit the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. If you have meetings, a flight out of JFK, LaGuardia or Newark, or guests coming in for the game, a little planning keeps the day easy.

Here is what the organizers and the City have published so far, how it affects car trips, and how we plan Veterans Day rides.

Parade time and route

According to the United War Veterans Council and ABC7 New York, the parade steps off at 12:30 PM at Fifth Avenue and 26th Street and marches north on Fifth Avenue. Participating groups list it as running from about 12:30 PM to about 3:30 PM, rain or shine.

The NYC Department of Transportation's special event notice for the parade covers these areas in Manhattan:

  • Route: Fifth Avenue between 25th Street and 48th Street.

  • Formation: streets around Madison Square Park, including Broadway and Fifth Avenue in the low 20s and East and West 24th to 28th Streets between Madison Avenue and Sixth Avenue.

  • Dispersal: East and West 45th Street between Sixth Avenue and Madison Avenue.

The NYPD posts the exact street closures closer to the day, and times can change. We check the latest notice the night before and the morning of every Veterans Day trip.

How the parade affects your rides

Crossing Midtown east to west. With Fifth Avenue closed from the 20s into the high 40s during the parade, crosstown trips in that stretch take longer. If your meeting is on the East Side and your hotel is on the West Side, expect your chauffeur to cross north or south of the route.

Pickups near the route. If your office, hotel or restaurant faces Fifth Avenue or sits inside the formation area, tell us when you book. We will set a pickup point on an open street that is an easy walk away.

Airport runs. The parade mainly affects Midtown and the Flatiron area in the afternoon. Morning flights are less likely to feel it, but a midday or afternoon departure from the East Side or Midtown should leave extra time. We track arriving flights, so if your guests land during the parade, our dispatch team plans the route and the pickup around it.

Flying private? Teterboro and Westchester County Airport trips usually stay well clear of Fifth Avenue. See our guide to Teterboro to Manhattan chauffeur service for how we time jet-side pickups.

Why an hourly car makes sense on Veterans Day

On a day with rolling closures, an hourly chauffeur is often simpler than booking separate rides. Your car and driver stay with you from the morning meeting to lunch, the afternoon session and dinner. There is no searching for a ride at a blocked corner, and your bags and coats stay in the car between stops.

The week is busy for business visitors too. Boutique Design New York (BDNY) is listed at the Javits Center for November 8–9, so many design and hospitality teams are already in town. If you are bringing a group, a Sprinter keeps everyone together between the show floor, the hotel and client dinners. Read more about choosing point-to-point or hourly corporate car service.

Same night: Cavaliers at Knicks at MSG

The Cleveland Cavaliers play the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, November 11, at 7:00 PM ET. The parade should be over well before tip-off, but evening traffic around Midtown and Penn Station is heavy on game nights. We drop off and pick up close to the Garden and get you home or back to your hotel after the final buzzer.

Flying in from Cleveland for the game? Our Cleveland team can get you to Cleveland Hopkins or Burke Lakefront, and our New York team meets you at JFK, LaGuardia, Newark or Teterboro. Cavs fans in Ohio can also catch the Knicks at Rocket Arena on Saturday, November 7. See our Cavs and Monsters game night guide.

Five tips for a calm Veterans Day ride

  1. Book ahead. A reserved car with a planned route beats hunting for a ride near a closed avenue.

  2. Share your schedule. Tell us every stop so we can plan around the route.

  3. Add buffer time for midday and afternoon airport departures from Midtown.

  4. Send your flight number for arrivals so we can adjust to delays.

  5. Plan the evening too, especially if you are heading to the Garden.
